Why Avi is an unmanned aircraft?
Avi is an airplane equipped with an autopilot - an autonomous control system. This allows you to program a flight path, and the autopilot guides the aircraft precisely the turning points the route (using GPS), holding a certain flight parameters (eg speed, height, etc.).
Why Avi is controlled manually during takeoff and landing?
Manual remote control is used in phases of takeoff and landing. 8 channel Futaba FASST 2.4 GHz is used as standard.
There are unmanned aircrafts that carry out the flight entirely in standalone mode. We decided to Avi take off and land in manual, because the operator has greater capacity to use space in the casual area where there may be around numerous obstacles: trees, poles, lines, etc.The efficiency set is increased.
Why Avi is equipped with wing flaps?
Flaps are used to slow down the speed of flight, maintenance of the lift force and allow steeper landing approach. Thus, despite the fact that Avi is powered sailplane, it is possible to land in the area confined by obstacles.
What factors affect a good quality of pictures (in terms of photogrammetric)?
Precise flight along the desired path (preserving the side lap), precise control of the cameras (preserving the forward lap), good integration of the autopilot and the plane (to maintain the minimum angles of inclination angle and the plane, which minimizes the deviation from the vertical axis images), the strength and variability of the wind, to plan flight, the selection of cameras (optics and matrix), and exposure conditions.
Is it possible to mount a different device/equipment than currently used in Avi?
AviSystem is now equipped with special containers for mounting only Sigma DP2 camera or a Canon 550D. The use of other devices than those mentioned above requires a simple modification of the mounting elements in the tray.
Under what weather conditions it is possible to make a raid by Avisystem?
The best conditions to carry out raids by AviSystem is a wind speed of less than 8 m/s, no rain and haze. Flights can be performed even under the full cloud cover, the raid is carried out under the base of the clouds.
How long does creation of orthomosaic take? (from the time the raid by AviSystem)
It depends on the size of the area over which the photogrammetric flight was made. Preparation time development lasts from a few to several days.
Do AviSystem may operate in tight spaces (pools, reserves, islands, etc.)?
Yes. Flying above the areas with a difficult access is possible only if we have a safe place to take off and landing.
Do AviSystem has an automatic takeoff and landing?
No. AviSystem currently performs off and landing in manual mode.
The operator - pilot is necessary for the safe execution of these maneuvers.
How many people support the AviSystem in the course of flight?
In the course of flight AviSystem is served by two people: the operator-pilot and the second person operating the ground station. This is necessary for security reasons. The operator-pilot is watching Avi airplane and surroundings, and the other person controls the operating parameters of the flight and aircraft equipment (sent by radio modem link) on the computer base station.
Is the material obtained - orthomosaic - cartometric?
Yes. Orthomosaic is a material analogous to the orthophotomap and arises from the process: aerial triangulation and orthorectification. Orthomosaic creation of the pictures is done by EnsoMOSAIC software.
What format are the images saved during flight and what format orthomosaic is?
Photographs taken during the flight are recorded in RAW format. Orthomosaic, the final product can be saved in TIFF or JPEG.
Is it possible to order only images (not processed to form orthomosaic) captured by AviSystem?
Yes. We can provide photos of themselves or together with the parameters that can help in self-processing.
